In partnership with the National Health Service (NHS) in England, we’re exploring the relationship between design and well-being through The Healthy Towns Initiative. The program is a response to the NHS Five Year Forward View, which sets out to reshape the way we approach health care services through the built environment.
Promoting community wellbeing through future-forward planning and connectivity
IBI Group was appointed by NHS England to deliver expert support across a number of workstreams in 2016. The role at that point was to support the development of proposals for the 10 demonstrator sites, 这将 promote community wellbeing through future-forward planning and connectivity. We provided varying levels of support to each site, including from our collaborating partners.
In 2018, we were included as part of The Kings Fund team as support partners in the development of the new NHS England guidance ‘Putting Health into Place’ which was released in September, 2019.
The guidance publication was led by the Town and Country 规划 Association (TCPA), with Kings Fund / IBI Group being appointed to support workstreams including models of care, 数字, 医疗基础设施.
The programme demonstrates the importance NHS England is placing on supporting healthy placemaking, including exploring new models of care and approaches that activate healthier community lifestyles.
IBI Group is currently working on commissions that are directly influenced by the success of the ‘Putting Health into Place’ guidance. This includes residential masterplans that explore how to increase social interactions by design, 以及模块化的建议, off-site ‘Health Haus’ which fosters health in new homes, through to a series of Health and Wellbeing Hubs. We are also exploring how the use of data can improve the wellbeing of communities.
